Students are solving a "murder" in Ms. Litten's class this week! Students studied Newton's Law of Cooling Exponential Functions and then used data from the Officer's report to calculate time of death. They also read through interviews to determine if each alibi was credible.

A representative from the Secretary of State's Office visited Ms. Brasfield's U.S. History classroom on Monday to talk about how a vill becomes a law. During the lesson, Ms. Hittenrauch explained the process at the state and federal level. Students were separated into House and Senate groups, selected a Speaker of the House and a Lt. Governor, and each Chamber drafted five bills for the classroom. The Speaker and the Lt. Governor presented their bills to the class, then exchanged bills for amendments. After amendments, each Chamber voted for one bill to pass their floor to be presented to the Governor (Ms. Brasfield) who then chose to sign or veto their bills as new classroom rules.
We love to see democracy in action!

Ms. Albert took a group of students last week to tour the Culinary School at UAPT, and everyone had a delicious time! #collegeandcareerready

PCSSD high school students are back as active participants in our school board meetings. Tonight, SYLVAN HILLS HIGH senior Ka'Mya Tackett represented the student body at the November Board of Education meeting. We are so proud of her hard work and willingness to represent the Bears. She's quite the achiever - she even got a standing ovation by the Board and guests at the meeting after hearing all of her accomplishments. Way to go, Ka'Mya!
