LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Mills University Studies High School’s JROTC Comet Battalion hosted the Inaugural Modified Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) Competition known as “The Comet Games” on October 9, 2021 in the Comets Field House.
Cadets from Arkadelphia High School, Catholic High School, Lonoke High School, Pine Bluff Watson Chapel High School and Mills University Studies High School eagerly competed against each other. This event helps validate the cadets’ level of mental toughness, fitness, teamwork, drive, determination and motivation.
In order to ensure safety for all cadets in attendance, some events were modified for safety and health concerns.
- Modified weight on (SDC) Sled Drag Carry weight: from 90 lbs to 40 lbs
- Modified weight on Kettlebells: 40 lbs to 20 lbs
- Modified max weights presets for (MDL) Maximum Deadlift: 60%, 70%,75%
- Leg Tuck (LT) or Plank (PLK) modifications
- Leg Tuck: complete a minimum of 3 leg tucks or as many possible per regulation standards.
- Plank: 1:30 to 3:00 minutes, if 3 leg tucks cannot be completed
- Two-Mile Run Modified to One-Mile Run
- The remaining events will be executed to normal standards
- Standing Power Throw (SPT). 10 Lb. medicine ball
- Hand Release Push-Up –Arm Extension (HRP)

- 1st place: Catholic High Marine JROTC
- 2nd place: Catholic High Marine JROTC
- 3rd place: Catholic High Marine JROTC
Female Team Winners:
- 1st place: Pine Bluff Watson Chapel
- 2nd place: Arkadelphia
Co-Ed Team Winners:
- 1st place: Pine Bluff Watson Chapel - Army JROTC
- 2nd place: Mills University Studies High - Army JROTC
Honorable Mention Team: Arkadelphia High - Army JROTC
Top Male Cadet Competitor: Cadet Callahan, Catholic High
Top Female Cadet Competitor: Cadet Celestine, Pine Bluff Watson Chapel High
The event was supported by Cadets from the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, under the leadership of their Professor of Military Science, LTC Kevin Moyer and Assistant Professor of Military Science CPT Brody Bright, from Henderson State/Ouachita Baptist Universities and the Arkansas National Guard Recruiting Team Member for Mills University Studies High School.
