Last day to make the year great! How are you finishing out 2023 and ringing in 2024? #pcssdproud #serveall

December is Read a New Book Month! We asked our teacher librarians to share a recent book and why they loved it.
Kyra Bell, OAKBROOKE ELEMENTARY, read The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy. She loved the lesson that no matter who you are, what you look like, or how you act, your differences are what make you. That's all that matters"

Congratulations are due! SHHS has been named a Heart Safe School after working with Arkansas Children's Hospital on Project Adam: how fast
do we respond to someone in need? in this case, our first responders were our very own students!

ICYMI: During the month of November, the Sylvan Hills High Quiz Bowl team sponsored a No Shave November fundraiser for teachers and staff, raising $800 for the Arkansas Food Bank. The money will fund 4,000 meals for Arkansans in need.

During the school year, SYLVAN HILLS HIGH has the opportunity for TWO students to represent our school and student body at the monthly Board of Education meetings. Last night, senior Grace Burlison represented our school at the December meeting. We're so thankful for her hard work and willingness to represent the Bears. Way to go, Grace! Our next rep will be in April.

Throughout December, we'll share tips on how important proper nutrition is for all ages.
Tip #2: Behavior problems due to malnutrition can be counteracted when children consume a balanced diet that includes protein, fat, complex carbohydrates, and fiber.

Happy Hanukkah! For the next eight nights, Hanukkah (often called the Festival of Lights), takes place for our Jewish friends. The celebration centers around lighting candles on the menorah while also enjoying food, music, and games. #pcssdproud #serveall
