SHHS Junior and Senior AVID students attended an HBCU College Fair in Little Rock today where they were given the opportunity to apply onsite as well as learn about various programs and scholarships available to them.

During Black History Month we celebrate Black artists with an Arkansas connection. Sonny Boy Williamson II, born as Alex Miller, was a blues harmonica player, singer and songwriter. He spent time in Helena-West Helena who influenced music in 1950s and 60s. #pcssdproud #serveall

The Griot Players, a group of SYLVAN HILLS HIGH students, visited two feeder elementary schools as part of the school's theatre arts program touring group. The Griot Players put on a Black History Month performance for students at OAKBROOKE and WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON ELEMENTARY. It was a great way to expose the students to Black History through theatre arts.

Several choir students attended the All-State Clinic Concert this past weekend and learned so much! The group also met up with SHHS alumni and previous All-State Choir members, Nicholas Tidwell and Savannah Davis.
Congrats to our students who made the All-State Choir: Baylee Brooks, Keziah Stinyard, Hannah Burke (2nd year All-State Choir member), and Michael Barker (2nd year All-State member).
Keziah Stinyard received one of the solos on Dayung Sampan making it the 2nd year in a row a student from Sylvan Hills has sung a solo during the All-State Concerts! (Nicholas Tidwell was the first last year).
