PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. -- EAST students from ten schools in the Pulaski County Special School District recently participated in the annual EAST Conference in Hot Springs. Those school teams included Lawson Elementary, Joe T. Robinson Middle, Maumelle Middle, Mills Middle, Sylvan Hills Middle, Sylvan Hills Junior High, Joe T. Robinson High, Maumelle High, Mills University Studies High and Sylvan Hills High. Teams from Joe T. Robinson High and Maumelle High both received awards at this year’s conference.
The Joe T. Robinson High team had seven participants this year, Wesley Littrell, Abby Alliston, Katelyn Jaros, Micah Pennington, Lauren Stallworth, Lillie Tretter, and Shayla Hollowell. The team won the Judges Choice award which is an award given by the judges to the best program that they observed during the conference.
“I was extremely proud of the work that Robinson's EAST program did at the conference,” said RHS EAST Coordinator Coach Jeff Risner. “From the moment they got to Hot Springs until the day we left they were superior in everything they did.”
The Maumelle High team had three participants this year, Liam Larsen, Kesaun Robinson, and Zion Newsome, with Robinson being named a Student Difference Maker.
“I am so proud of these young men and the effort they put in, stepping outside their comfort zone and being leaders, representing the school and district so well,” said Maumelle EAST Coordinator Coach Brian Maupin.
The annual conference brings together 3,500 students, teachers, parents, and community and business leaders to showcase projects that make a difference. Students also have an opportunity to network with the business and community leaders and their peers.
