PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. -- The Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is recognizing three schools within the Pulaski County Special School District for their improvements from 2022 to 2023. College Station Elementary, Robinson High School, and DRIVEN Virtual Academy were each named as a “School on the Move Toward Excellence” based on 2022-2023 student achievement and growth in English Language Arts and mathematics as well as other measures of school performance.
College Station Elementary and the DRIVEN Virtual Academy both increased by one letter grade this year. College Station moved up to a “D” letter grade and DRIVEN moved up one letter grade to a “C.”
Meanwhile both DRIVEN Virtual Academy and Joe T. Robinson High increased their weighted achievement scores, meaning more students are meeting grade level expectations.
The Schools on the Move Toward Excellence campaign celebrates schools that utilize a continuous cycle of inquiry (plan, do, check) to demonstrate improvement on recent state and federal accountability reports. DESE highlights schools that show significant progress on different indicators, such as the following:
Increase in letter grade and ESSA School Index score by at least 5 points
Weighted Achievement score increased by at least 10 points
Value-added Growth score was higher than 97.5% of schools
Congratulations to the schools, staff, and students for their hard work and improvements. We look forward to continuing this upward progression!
