Please note that if weather conditions are extreme, updates to this website may be hampered by downed phone lines or power outages.  However, every reasonable attempt will be made to provide you with the latest information on school closings.  If you suspect inclement weather for Pulaski County but do not see updated information on this website, please tune to local media.

 

Inclement Weather Procedure

Early Morning Closing

·       In the event schools are closed due to inclement weather, the following actions and notifications shall be implemented.  The Director of Safety and Security must notify the Director of Transportation no later than 4:30 a.m. regarding road conditions.  The Director of Transportation is to notify the Assistant Superintendent for Support Services no later than 4:30 a.m. for conference with the Superintendent.  The Assistant Superintendent or his/her designee will contact the television stations no later than 5:00 a.m. on the day that schools are to be closed for inclement weather.

·       Local media stations are notified of school closings.

·       On days that schools are closed entirely due to inclement weather, no transportation will be provided for PCSSD students attending LRSD schools.

·       On days that schools are closed entirely due to inclement weather, all athletic events are subsequently cancelled.

·       On days that schools are closed entirely due to inclement weather, all other activities scheduled in PCSSD schools are cancelled.

·       If the District office is open during inclement weather, all maintenance custodians, lead custodians, and twelve month employees are expected to report to work or take appropriate leave.

Mid-Day Dismissal

·       In the event schools are closed during school hours, a "calling tree" is activated among designated administrators in the District.  Each administrator is responsible for contacting schools designated under their name.  This procedure should ensure that all schools are notified in a timely manner.

·       Local media stations are notified of school closings.

·       On days for which there is a mid-day dismissal due to inclement weather, all athletic events are subsequently cancelled.

·       On days for which there is a mid-day dismissal due to inclement weather, all other activities scheduled in PCSSD schools are cancelled.

·       If the District office is open during inclement weather, all maintenance custodians, lead custodians, and twelve month employees are expected to continue to work or take appropriate leave.
